Architechture

Egyptain architechture is very diverse, it is also very unique. Sunbaked brick and stone were dominatly used in Egypt because of lack of lumber. The mud used for homes was taken from the Nile River. Monuments located in Egypt are the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Great Sphinx of Giza.

Religion

The Egyptians had many gods. These gods symbolized important aspects of their life, such as the sun and the river. An important part of their religion was the use of sacrifices and offerings sent to please the gods. Unlike other societies, temples were not used for public worship.

Gender Roles

At the time, men were much more powerful than women. Like other civilizations, the society was patriarchal. Women were responsible for bearing childrem, an important part of culture.

Social Structure:

Priests had the majority of the power, but the top of the social classes were the Pharaohs. These Pharaohs were thought to have been the human forms of important gods. Later on though, they became more and more human. The free class was made up of intellectuals, artisans, and merchants, very similiar to the other civilizations at the time. Weapons, Tools, and Technology

The egyptians were sophisticated in their technology and weapons.  They used bows and arrows, slings, and composite bows.  Their armies had archers, spear throwers and sling users.  If you were a sling user in the army, then you were very good with the sling.  You could probably hit a rabbit from 100 yards with consistency.

Geography

The Nile River Valley Civilization is surrounded by the Red Sea to the East, a desert to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the North and mountains to the south. Essentially is was protected on all sides from enemies which made it a great spot for a civilization. The are also has a lot of fertile soil suitable for agriculture, Most of th evillages are built on the river. The river had  very predictable but mild flooding which  was used for irrigation. Precailing winds in the region made trade through the Nile possible for both north and south. Along the river rich deposits of clay, granite, sandstone and limestone used for building were found.  The river also provided the people with silt deposits rich for farming.

The Nile River Valley Civilization was a specialized bureaucracy which means that their government was ruled by many men and organizations. Agriculture ruled their economy. They had marketplaces which had pigs, cattle, other livestock and fish from the Nile.

The Egyptians were a very driven people.  They used a variety of weapons from slings all the way to swords and compound bows.  In the army there were archers, swordsmen, and slingmen.  If you were in the army then you were skilled at the post you had, but if you were a sling person you were exceptionally skilled.  With consistancy you could hit a rabbit from at least 100 yards, and get the rock going in excess of 60 miles an hour.
